Call for proposals from Teacher Education SIG for Eurocall 2013

As new chairs of Eurocall's Teacher Education SIG, Euline and I would like to invite you to contribute to this year's annual Eurocall conference to be held in Evora, Portugal from 11-14 September.

As you probably know, the general call for papers includes a number of different types of presentations: individual papers, special interest group symposia, workshops and posters.  To mark Eurocall's 20th anniversary, this year's conference will also have a day dedicated to EU projects and SIG activities such as workshops, symposia, and/or round table discussions.  The deadline for proposals is 25 February.

Special interest groups often contribute to two types of presentations: a symposium, which brings together research-oriented papers on a common theme, and workshop presentations, which offer more practical, hands-on sessions.  Because the Evora conference marks a special anniversary, it has been suggested that all Eurocall SIGs (CMC, CorpusCALL, Natural Language Processing, Virtual Worlds and Teacher Education) plan research and workshop presentations together.

We would therefore like to invite Teacher Education SIG members to propose workshops and/or research presentations which showcase various research approaches and opportunities in CALL and CMC teacher education.

To offer one or two starting points, we suggest the following areas of focus:
a) a symposium: CALL classroom practices, standards and sustainability (with a focus on research findings)
b) workshop(s): research practices in CALL teacher education (with a focus on research issues)
We would also like to encourage practitioners and new researchers to submit to either strand.

Please contact us with your ideas and we will put together a joint proposal (or proposals) from the Teacher Education SIG, together with the other SIGs if possible.  

Time is short - deadline 25 February - so we need your responses soon.
